Reseller Partner FAQ

Everything a prospective reseller needs to understand the REUZEit Partner Network: how the partnership works, how you earn, how items move through the marketplace, when you get paid, and what is expected of you. Plain-language summary — the signed REUZEit Partner Network Agreement is the controlling document.

Getting Started

What is the REUZEit Partner Network?

REUZEit is a software and marketplace company — it owns no equipment, runs no warehouse, and never takes title or custody of your inventory. What it gives you is a complete toolkit to run a used-equipment business: an inventory/operations system, a CRM for leads, quotes, orders and invoices, and a white-label online storefront under your own brand and web address.

Partners form a network. You sell your own inventory, and at the same time every partner's storefront can display the entire network catalog — so you can resell any other partner's published item, and other partners can resell yours. More listings, more buyers, more sales, without buying more stock.

Who does what? (Managing Partner vs. Selling Partner)

Managing Partner — the owner of the item. They set the List Price (which is the Base Price) and approve resale offers on their equipment.

Selling Partner — the partner who actually closes a sale (often reselling another partner's item on their own storefront).

End Customer — the final buyer.

You can be either role on different deals — a Managing Partner on your own items, and a Selling Partner when you sell someone else's.

Is the REUZEit Partner Network right for my business?

It fits used/surplus equipment dealers, refurbishers and resellers who want to (a) put their inventory in front of a much larger buyer base, (b) sell products they don't own without carrying the cost of stock, and (c) run their whole operation — storefront, CRM, accounting sync — from one platform. You remain an independent business: the agreement makes you an independent contractor, not an agent, employee or franchisee of REUZEit.

How You Earn

What are the fees? What does REUZEit charge?

REUZEit's fee is a split 6% — the total to REUZEit works out to 6% of the sale, but it's charged in two pieces so each partner pays a fee only on the value that partner brought:

  • The owner is charged 6% on the Base Price (the item's List Price) — made up of a 3% Platform Fee and a 3% Payment Processing Fee. The owner nets List − 6%.
  • The seller is charged 6% on the markup (Selling Price − Base) — the same 3% Platform + 3% Processing split. The seller nets markup − 6%.

The Base Price is gross. REUZEit never invoices the base — the base moves as a purchase between the seller and the owner. REUZEit only ever invoices its fee. Add the two fee pieces together and REUZEit's total is exactly 6% of the full selling price.

REUZEit may offer an individual partner a reduced or waived rate for a period (a promotional or negotiated incentive, recorded per partner); any such reduction lowers only that partner's own fee.

Do I ever pay or invoice another partner directly?

No — you only ever settle with REUZEit. Legally the sale is owner → reseller, but REUZEit acts as the owner's limited payment collection agent (an "agent of the payee"). Every payment routes through REUZEit, so the cash experience is simply "pay REUZEit only." No partner ever pays or invoices another partner directly.

When a buyer pays REUZEit, that discharges the buyer's obligation — the deal is settled even though the money passes through REUZEit's clearing account before the base reaches the owner. Likewise, when you owe a base to another partner, you pay REUZEit and REUZEit forwards it; you never chase, and are never chased by, the other partner.

Because REUZEit collects as the owner's agent, it operates under the money-transmitter-license exemption most US states grant for an agent of the payee. REUZEit is not a bank, escrow agent, or money transmitter, and holds no funds in trust — it simply routes the money.

What if I collect the customer's payment myself instead of through REUZEit?

You can. When you create the order, collect the buyer's payment directly (wire, ACH, check, or cash). On such a self-collected sale:

  • No Payment Processing Fee — the 3% processing fee is waived to 0% on BOTH fee invoices (the owner's and the seller's), because REUZEit didn't process the payment.
  • The 3% Platform Fee still applies to both sides — REUZEit still runs the marketplace, listings, and reconciliation. So on a self-collected sale the owner nets Base − 3% and the seller nets markup − 3%.
  • You remit REUZEit's share within 7 calendar days of collecting the buyer's payment. If you sold another partner's item, what you remit also covers that owner's base (REUZEit forwards it) — see the three cases below.
  • Buyer risk is yours. Because REUZEit holds no money on the sale, the delivery/return hold doesn't apply and any refund, return, or chargeback is your responsibility.
  • Sales tax is yours to handle on a self-collected sale (REUZEit collects/remits tax only on payments it processes).
  • The order must still be created in the portal — self-collection is not off-platform selling.
How is my profit calculated as the Selling Partner?

Your gross margin on a resale is your markup less your own 6% fee:

(Selling Price − Base Price) − 6% of the markup  =  markup − 3% Platform Fee − 3% Payment Processing Fee

You are charged a fee only on your markup — never on the owner's base (the owner pays its own 6% on the base). From your margin you cover your own costs (any upgrade/refurbishment, storage, packing, logistics) to get your net profit. You fund your costs from the sale — you don't pay them up front.

Worked example: an item with a $1,000 base that you sell for $1,200, with REUZEit processing the payment (e.g. by card):

  • Owner: $1,000 base − $60 owner fee (6% of $1,000) = nets $940.
  • Seller (you): $200 markup − $12 seller fee (6% of $200) = nets $188.
  • REUZEit: $60 + $12 = $72 (= 6% of the $1,200 sale).
  • Buyer paid: $1,200.

Self-collected variant (you collected the buyer's payment, so the 3% processing fee is waived on both sides): the fees are half — owner −$30 (nets $970), seller −$6 (nets $194), and REUZEit $36. From your $188 (or $194) gross margin you then subtract your overhead to get net profit.

Who pays whom? The three cases in plain English

Whatever the deal, you settle with REUZEit only — never directly with another partner. Here's how the money moves in each of the three situations you'll hit:

1. I sold my own item. You own it and you sold it — no other partner is involved. If REUZEit processed the payment: the buyer pays REUZEit, REUZEit keeps its fee, and remits the rest to you. If you self-collected: you keep the buyer's money and owe REUZEit only its fee (a small balance due to REUZEit). Either way it's one fee invoice, no buy-leg — you keep the sale minus the fee.

2. I sold another partner's item. You're the seller; someone else owns it. The base stays a purchase between you and the owner. If REUZEit processed the payment: the buyer pays REUZEit → REUZEit keeps its fee, forwards the base to the owner for you, and sends your margin to you — you never touch the owner. If you self-collected: you're holding money that isn't all yours, so you carry a balance due to REUZEit equal to the owner's base + your fee → you pay REUZEit → REUZEit forwards the base to the owner. You settle only with REUZEit, never with the owner, and you keep your margin.

3. Another partner sold my item. You're the owner; someone else sold it. You're owed your base. You don't chase the selling partner — REUZEit collects from them and pays you the base once the buyer has received the item and the return window closes (about 7 days after delivery). The money just arrives from REUZEit.

Are there monthly or subscription fees?

Separate from the per-sale fees, there may be a monthly hosting fee and a monthly inventory-management fee tiered by how many items you keep under management. These are quoted per partner during onboarding and can be waived or adjusted. REUZEit gives at least 30 days' notice before introducing or raising any recurring fee.

What's included when I onboard?

Your onboarding package includes a white-label storefront built under your brand, up to 20 hours per month of design/change work, accounting (QuickBooks) synchronization, one eBay account connection, and one domain connection. Additional domains or integrations are quoted separately.

There is a one-time onboarding fee that covers this setup. It's quoted per partner and can be reduced or waived for a particular partner; your representative confirms the amount during onboarding.

Reselling & Virtual Variants

How do I resell another partner's item?

You create a Virtual Variant — your own resale offer linked to the original item. It can describe a future, upgraded condition (for example refurbished, calibrated, or with a warranty). Importantly, you don't perform or pay for that upgrade up front: it's a priced plan, funded from the sale and carried out only after the item sells, then shipped within a lead time you disclose.

Do I need approval to list a resale offer?

Yes. A Virtual Variant needs the Managing Partner's (owner's) approval before it goes live. Once approved it moves through Registered → Published → Ordered → Paid → Shipped → Delivered, and it locks once an order is placed so the deal terms can't shift mid-sale.

Who controls the price?

The Base Price of a variant is the owner's List Price (the base is gross — REUZEit's fee is charged separately, not baked into the base), and it moves only when the owner moves the List Price. Only the owner (the Managing Partner) controls the price — REUZEit is just the platform and never sets, changes, or approves prices. If you want a lower floor to win a deal, you file a List-Price Adjustment Request that's routed to the owner; only the owner can approve it.

What is an exclusivity hold?

An owner can grant you an exclusive right to resell a specific item or category. While that hold is active, the original listing is suppressed across the network so your enhanced offer isn't undercut. All the terms — duration, scope, and minimum base price — are agreed between the two partners; an exclusivity hold applies only where you and the owner agree one (there is no platform-imposed default).

Getting Paid & Holds

How does the money flow when an item sells?

The buyer always pays into the platform first (much like eBay). REUZEit then distributes each party's share — the owner's base, your margin, and its own fees. REUZEit is not a bank, escrow agent or fiduciary; it holds no interest for you and simply routes the funds.

When can I withdraw my earnings? What's the hold?

Funds owed to you are frozen until the item is delivered plus the return window clears — released on the later of delivery + 7 calendar days (or a longer stated window). You can't withdraw held funds until they're released, and if delivery is never confirmed the funds stay held for manual review. Service/labor charges (no product or return risk) carry a shorter hold — at most 7 days — and settle directly to the invoicing partner.

What happens with refunds and chargebacks?

The Selling Partner is responsible for chargebacks on sales it managed or fulfilled. REUZEit never funds a refund from its own money — instead it issues Recovery Invoices to each party for their share (the owner repays its base, the seller repays its margin) and returns its own fees proportionally. It can recoup from held funds, future funds, a rolling reserve, or a direct invoice — even after funds were released.

Who handles sales tax?

Sales tax is calculated automatically, collected from the buyer at checkout, and — because REUZEit operates as the marketplace facilitator — REUZEit holds it and remits it to the tax authorities on your behalf. The collected tax is never part of your proceeds, never added to your available balance, and can't be withdrawn — it's not your money to keep. Your dashboard shows how much has been collected on your sales for transparency.

Ownership, Custody & Insurance

Who owns the equipment on the platform?

You keep ownership of your own inventory. When another partner sells your item, the platform automatically records a "buy leg" (a purchase receipt, purchase invoice and delivery note) at the Base Price, so you're made whole and the reseller keeps the markup. REUZEit still never takes title or custody at any point.

Will the item's owner see my customer?

No. On a deal you sell, the Managing Partner never sees the End Customer's identity — only the financial documents between the two partners. Customer and lead data is not shared between partners.

What insurance do I need to carry?

Because you may take physical custody of equipment you don't own, you must carry Care/Custody/Control (Bailee) insurance of at least $100,000 per occurrence (a floor, re-set annually by inventory value), commercial general liability of at least $1M/$2M, and property/cargo coverage — with a certificate provided within 30 days and REUZEit named as additional insured. REUZEit may run an annual physical count of other partners' equipment held at your facility.

Standards & Terms

What performance standards am I held to?

The binding service standards include: respond to a first lead within 1 business day, send a quote within 2 business days, fulfill within your disclosed lead time (or 5 business days), mark orders shipped within 1 business day, acknowledge a DOA/return within 2 business days, and keep your data current. You'll receive a weekly performance report with a star rating (informational — there is no automatic tiering). Sustained failure is handled with help first, and only then possible termination.

How do I end the partnership?

Either side can terminate for convenience with 90 days' notice, or for cause on a 30-day uncured breach. On termination you must return any equipment you don't own. The agreement is governed by California law, with binding arbitration in Riverside County.

I'm interested — how do I become a partner?
